Job description
Job Title: Machine Operator
Job Description

Join a clean, specialized plastics facility that produces high-quality components primarily for the automotive industry and some medical applications. As a Machine Operator, you will work with thermoforming equipment and support production activities such as drilling, deburring, and press operation. This role combines hands-on machine operation with general production tasks to ensure parts meet quality standards and are prepared for shipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate thermoform machines by loading plastic sheets, monitoring the automated heating and vacuum process, and ensuring proper forming of parts in the mold.
  • Remove finished parts from the thermoform machine and accurately load them into the trim fixture for the next stage of processing.
  • Perform drilling, deburring, and press operation tasks on plastic parts as needed to support production requirements.
  • Inspect parts visually and with basic measuring tools to verify they meet quality and production standards.
  • Assist with applying stickers, labels, or identification to plastic trays and components according to work instructions.
  • Support packaging activities, including packing plastic trays and parts in an organized and damage-free manner.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and work instructions while operating machinery and handling materials.
  • Use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively during production and finishing tasks.
  • Handle material loading and unloading tasks associated with machine operation and general production work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around thermoform machines and production stations.
  • Communicate issues such as machine malfunctions, quality concerns, or material shortages to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Work an assigned shift schedule, including first or second shift and designated Friday hours, and complete an 8-hour shift with required breaks.
  • Lift materials and products up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods during the shift.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 months of experience in a manufacturing environment that is not limited to warehouse work.
  • Minimum of 3 months of machine operation or assembly experience in a production setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate basic production machinery or equipment safely and reliably.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for 8 or more hours per shift.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to understand machine functions and production processes.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Attention to detail for inspecting parts and ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts, including first or second shift and scheduled Friday hours.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with general production tasks such as assembly, packaging, and material handling.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to operating or working around equipment such as presses, punch presses, or press brakes.
  • Ability to read or interpret basic blueprints or production drawings.
  • Experience using simple measuring tools, such as tape measures, to verify part dimensions.
  • Forklift experience or comfort working around material handling equipment.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to recognize and report machine or process issues.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Interest in developing skills that can support advancement into supervisory roles or other shifts over time.
Why Work Here?

You will join a stable manufacturing environment that offers direct employment opportunities after 90 days and clear room for growth, including potential advancement into supervisory roles or movement to different shifts. The company supports long-term career development with two bonuses per year, an annual raise, and a benefits package that includes health insurance, 401(k), and paid vacation time. You can build your skills in a clean production setting while enjoying the security and progression opportunities that come with a well-established operation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean plastics manufacturing facility that operates multiple thermoform machines, each in its own designated area. The environment is not climate controlled, so it can be colder in the winter and warmer in the summer. You will work 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks, with available schedules including a first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a second shift from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Friday hours from 1:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The work involves standing for most of the shift, handling plastic sheets and parts, and working around production equipment and tools in an organized, safety-focused setting.
