GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Chief Operations Administrator, the Janitorial/Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the Nueces County Community Action Agency facilities including basic maintenance and janitorial tasks.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality on all personnel and client information
  • Attends minor maintenance repairs at Nueces County Community Action Agency Administrative Office Building (i.e., monitoring the HVAC systems, minor plumbing leaks, changing light bulbs, repairs etc.)
  • Manicures Administrative Office Building lawn, walkways, and entryways.
  • Able to operate handtools, lawnmower, edger, weed eater, and blower, etc.
  • Upkeep presentation of buildings by cleaning and sanitizing all common areas such as furniture, windows, walls, bathrooms, break room, conference rooms, and thruways.
  • Performs all janitorial/cleaning services on a daily basis.
  • Delivers equipment and supplies. Runs errands. Delivers mail to the U.S. Post office.
  • Move furniture; shelves, desks, Room setup for meetings, cleans the room after the meeting, and rearranges the tables and chairs.
  • Wears appropriate safety gear such as safety glasses, shoes, and gloves when tending to lawns or delivering equipment, or conducting routine or special assignments.
  • Properly stores janitorial supplies and chemicals. Put garbage cans in proper locations.
  • Performs daily parking lot checks for debris.
  • Ensures office space is safe by identifying potential hazards (e.g. exposed wires, spills, uneven flooring)
  • Respond to Emergency weather conditions by prepping Office facilities (e.g. Freezing, Hurricane, Flood threats, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Operations Administrator that benefits the Agency.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS-Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years’ janitorial and maintenance experience
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, written and verbal; Ability to clearly and concisely present ideas and concepts and tailor communication to multiple audiences
  • Proven ability to establish constructive relationships through individual or group interactions and serves as a positive role model
  • Continuous learner who leverages opportunities for learning and applies new knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
  • Meet the physical qualifications required as outlined in the job description.
  • Nueces County Community Action Agency will provide reasonable accommodations for disabled persons.
Physical Activity/Working Conditions
  1. Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, physical and functional capacity evaluation prior to first day of employment.2.
  2. Must successfully pass and submit a pre-employment TB test and periodically as indicated by the regional Texas Department of State Health Services or local health authority.
  3. Must have transportation and current liability coverage on vehicle to be used in the performance of job duties.
  4. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid Texas Driver’s License (Op-Class C) and is subject to review and approval by the Agency and insurance company on driver record.
  5. Proof of work eligibility must be provided.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  1. Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening and periodically as indicated by the regional Texas Department of State Services or local health authority.
  2. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  3. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License (minimum, Class C), and pass Motor Vehicle record check.
  4. Must dress appropriately and adhere to all safety requirements.
  5. Must maintain a high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  6. Work in Environment; standard office space with low to medium decibel levels and direct lighting.
  7. To conduct this job, an individual must be able to perform all essential job functions satisfactorily.
