Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Identification of mail with the customer verification form
- Sorting mail and packaging for the distribution involving continually standing, reaching, bending, and stooping
- Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves mail and supplies to other departments when necessary
- Frequently bundling, bagging, and boxing mail by country weighing a minimum of 50 pounds or more
- Frequently lifting and weighing mail to determine the correct postage and number of pieces
- Measure and weigh packages
- Examine packages to ensure packing specifications are constantly met
- Send packages or mail for scanning and sorting
- Scan the barcode of the package labels
- Reads instructions to determine type and size of publication scheduled for each job
- Continually load machines with the appropriate mail
- Continually add inserts or follow other directions for each mailing as ordered by the customer
- Observes operation to detect evidence of malfunctions throughout the production run
- Stops machine to make adjustments of clear jams
- Record production according to job order, including hours used for each function
- Re addressing undeliverable mail bearing the incomplete or incorrect address
- Examining outgoing mail for appearance and sealing envelopes by hand or machine
- Stamping / permitting outgoing mail by hand or with a postage meter
- Basic computer functions and data entry of worksheets and verification forms including but not limited to signing in and out jobs
- Cross-training and assistance in other operational departments as needed
- Monitors the workflow and procedures in the department to ensure consistency
- Assists the manager with special projects and outstanding issues as they arise
- Performs QC checks before each mailing
- Process mail to meet service level requirements which may require mandatory overtime to meet these deadlines
