Job Summary

The X-Ray Technologist (Radiologic Technologist) performs diagnostic radiographic procedures to produce high-quality images used for medical diagnosis and treatment. The technologist works in a fast-paced acute care environment supporting various hospital departments including emergency, intensive care, pediatric, and surgical services. This role requires strong technical skills in radiographic imaging, patient positioning, and the use of specialized imaging equipment while ensuring patient safety and compliance with clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.

  • Produce high-quality radiographic images for accurate medical diagnosis.

  • Operate and maintain radiographic imaging equipment including portable and fluoroscopic systems.

  • Perform bedside/portable X-ray examinations for critically ill or immobile patients.

  • Assist with C-arm imaging procedures during surgical operations.

  • Conduct fluoroscopic imaging studies, including procedures such as barium swallow and esophagram.

  • Provide imaging support for multiple hospital departments including Emergency Department (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Operating Room (OR).

  • Ensure proper patient positioning, radiation safety practices, and image quality control.

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.

  • Maintain accurate imaging documentation in the electronic medical record system.

  • Follow radiation protection guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety.

  • Adapt to new imaging equipment and protocols as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 1–2 years of X-ray technologist experience in an acute care setting.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography – ARRT (R).

  • Active state radiologic technologist license.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Experience using Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

  • Ability to perform all general radiographic procedures independently.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of acute care radiology experience preferred.

  • Experience working in Level I trauma centers and pediatric hospital environments.

  • Experience performing operating room imaging and fluoroscopic procedures.
