Lafayette, Louisiana Contract to Hire Jul 8, 2026

NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced Flushing Operations Coordinator to support marine, shipyard, and industrial piping system operations. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing piping system flushing and filtration activities to ensure systems meet cleanliness and quality requirements prior to commissioning, maintenance completion, and system turnover. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with marine or industrial piping systems, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced shipyard environment.

Position Overview

The Flushing Operations Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for flushing and filtration operations, ensuring all activities are safely executed in accordance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This role requires technical expertise in piping systems, contamination control, pump and filtration systems, and flushing procedures. This position supports vessel construction, ship repair, maintenance availabilities, and industrial piping projects in shipyard, onshore, and offshore environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed flushing plans using P&IDs, technical drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Coordinate flushing schedules with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and customer representatives.
  • Ensure flushing operations are integrated into overall project schedules with minimal disruption to ongoing work.
  • Review system requirements and establish cleanliness acceptance criteria.
  • Lead and supervise flushing crews during setup, execution, monitoring, and teardown activities.
  • Coordinate flushing and filtration activities for marine piping systems, including: Fuel Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Lubrication Systems, Cooling Water Systems, Ballast Systems, Auxiliary Piping Systems.
  • Verify proper equipment setup and flushing configurations.
  • Monitor flow rates, pressures, temperatures, and contamination levels throughout flushing operations.
  • Conduct cleanliness verification and support system turnover activities.
  • Ensure flushing operations meet customer, military, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain flushing logs, reports, and cleanliness certification documentation.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Enforce all shipyard, customer, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure proper PPE usage and safe work practices during all flushing activities.
  • Participate in safety meetings and incident prevention programs.
  • Maintain detailed records of flushing activities, testing results, and system status.
  • Generate reports for project management, quality teams, and customer representatives.
  • Interface with Engineering, Production, QA, and customer personnel to resolve technical issues.
  • Support project closeout activities and turnover documentation.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in shipyard, marine, industrial, or piping system operations.
  • Experience leading or supervising: Piping system flushing, Hydrostatic testing, System commissioning, Filtration operations.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret: P&IDs, Isometric drawings, Technical specifications, Engineering documents.
  • Knowledge of contamination control practices and cleanliness standards.
  • Experience with pumps, filtration systems, hoses, valves, and related equipment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • Military vessel or government shipbuilding experience.
  • Technical training in Mechanical, Marine Engineering, Industrial Systems, or related disciplines.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA requirements and shipboard piping systems.
  • Experience supporting vessel commissioning and turnover processes.

Work Environment

  • Shipyard, marine, offshore, and industrial environments.
  • Frequent vessel access, including confined spaces and elevated work areas.
  • Exposure to industrial equipment, piping systems, and varying weather conditions.
  • PPE required, including hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection as required.
  • Travel may be required based on project needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, squat, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to access vessels and industrial facilities.
  • Ability to work extended shifts and overtime when required.
