About the Company: Security Benefit is a leader in the U.S. retirement market with more than $60 billion in assets under management. We offer opportunities to thrive, innovate, and make an impact. As part of our team, you'll play a key role in driving the future of the U.S. retirement industry. Security Benefit is a place where we promise to help our customers To and Through Retirement.

We're proud to have been recognized as one of the best in the business:

  • Named to Ward's 50 list of top-performing life-health insurance companies
  • Recognized on list of Ingram's Top 100 Private Companies in the Kansas City area in 2024

About the Role: As a Senior Email Marketing Automation Specialist you will be a key member of the Digital Marketing team, supporting company strategy by building, deploying, and optimizing automated email campaigns and customer journeys to key audiences. This role owns campaign workflows, marketing automation platform administration, and performance reporting. The Email Marketing Automation Specialist reports to the Manager, Digital Engagement and works in close partnership with Marketing Operations, Marketing Account Managers, Salesforce administration, and IT.

The Senior Email Marketing Automation Specialist position reports to the Manager Digital Engagement and can be based out of our office in Topeka or Overland Park, Kansas. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

Campaign Strategy & Execution

  • Build and deploy multi-touch email marketing campaigns and automated journeys across key audiences. (Current tech stack platforms include Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) and Beefree content builder.)
  • Design and manage lead nurturing programs, drip campaigns, and triggered/behavioral email journeys that guide prospects and clients through the funnel
  • Partner with Marketing Account Managers to build and maintain the communication calendar, ensuring campaigns align with broader marketing and product initiatives

Marketing Automation & CRM

  • Configure CRM elements (Salesforce) needed to support campaign setup, ensuring accurate lead routing, scoring, and field mapping between Account Engagement and Salesforce
  • Partner with Marketing Operations and Salesforce administration to troubleshoot data flow issues and maintain clean, reliable lead records

Reporting & Optimization

  • Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance (open/click rates, conversion, engagement, list health) and translate findings into clear recommendations for stakeholders
  • Run A/B and multivariate tests on subject lines, content, and send times to continuously improve engagement and conversion
  • Monitor deliverability and sender reputation, and apply best practices to maintain list hygiene and compliance with CAN-SPAM, CASL, and other applicable regulations

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with internal partners to acquire and validate list and data selections for targeted segmentation
  • Ensure proper tracking, version control, and storage of campaign assets and templates
  • Manage end-to-end campaign execution segmentation, list management, lead management, and data analytics in partnership with Marketing Account Managers

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Operations, or related field
  • 5+ years of marketing campaign experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience with a marketing automation platform (Salesforce Account Engagement/Pardot preferred) and email design tools (Beefree or similar)
  • Familiarity with CRM systems or databases (i.e., Salesforce)
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS for email template development and troubleshooting
  • Exceptional attention to detail, process, and quality
  • Comfortable interpreting campaign analytics and translating data into actionable recommendations
  • Self-learner who adapts quickly to new software and platform updates
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with changing needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor and a collaborative, solutions-oriented attitude
  • Inbound and outbound marketing expertise a plus

Why Choose Security Benefit?

  • Competitive salary and annual incentive bonuses to reward your contributions.
  • 33 days of paid time off (including PTO, holidays, Volunteer Day, and days of significance).
  • Paid parental leave after 90 days of service.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental & vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match, plus Profit Sharing & Savings Plan.
  • Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance to give you peace of mind.
  • Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and dependent care.
  • Life Insurance to protect your loved ones.
  • Educational assistance to support your career development.
