- Expedited Candidate Review Once the announcement closes, Human Resources will quickly review applications, issue certificates of eligible candidates the day after the announcement closes and refer applicants for hiring manager consideration.

HR may arrange interviews and will request references within 3-5 days after being referred to the hiring manager.
- Streamlined Pre-Employment Requirements: Following a tentative offer, applicants should be prepared to complete required steps, such as fingerprinting and background check, credentialing, and medical examination within 3 days of the offer.
- Clear and Timely Communication: Applicants will receive clear communication at key milestones, including referral, tentative offer, and onboarding instructions.
After meeting pre-employment requirements, candidates will receive a final job offer and start date. Onboarding tasks may continue after starting, with HR ensuring timely completion for a smooth transition into VA service. If selected, applicants should be prepared to come on board within 30 days of the announcement closing. The Medical Administration Specialist works as a member of the Health Administration Service to develop and administer training programs for the staff of HAS as well as administrative employees throughout the facility, outpatient clinics and CBOCs. Duties include, but not limited to:
- Develops, reviews, analyzes, implements, conducts and evaluates training courses and programs related to HAS areas such as Eligibility/Enrollment, Access to Care, Beneficiary Travel, Scheduling, Ward Administration, Admissions, Special Programs, Decedent Affairs, Telephone Communications, Scanning, Release of Information, Insurance Collection, Privacy, Records Management, Consult Management, Non-VA Care Program as well as training on new directives and processes that interrelate within HAS sections/units and/or with other services.
- Monitor newly released Directives, Facility Policies, and released patches for their potential effect on HAS end-users and employees on a regular basis.
- Conducts and evaluates employee training needs assessments in order to provide guidance to HAS management and supervisory staff on establishing and operating internal training programs, developing or obtaining/purchasing training aids and selecting appropriate training resources.
- Develops the HAS training plan each fiscal year, as well as monthly training calendar of the days, times, and location of training programs for the service.
- Completes quality assurance studies of programs as required.
- Serves as the Tuition Support Coordinator for HAS. Incumbent determines appropriateness/completeness of request based on facility criteria, and gathers, tracks, and presents all HAS requests for tuition support to the Chief, HAS and/or Assistant Chief, HAS.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00 pm
