Medical Assistant
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join a Women's Health team in a highly patient-facing, back-office role. This position plays a key part in delivering high-quality care by supporting providers, preparing patients for visits, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This is an excellent opportunity for new graduates or externs looking to build hands-on experience in a supportive, team-driven environmentespecially those passionate about serving a diverse and primarily Spanish-speaking patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients, gather medical history, and confirm visit purpose
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms to ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness
- Record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight
- Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures
- Perform clinical tasks such as injections, immunizations, and suture removal (per protocol)
- Conduct lab procedures including urine analysis, cultures, hemoglobin testing, lead testing, and EKGs
- Perform phlebotomy and properly handle laboratory specimens
- Administer respiratory treatments and other ordered procedures
- Maintain sterilization protocols and logs for instruments and equipment
- Educate patients on treatments, medications, and care instructions in English and Spanish as needed
- Support clinic flow and adapt to changing patient volumes
Required Qualifications
- Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- CPR certification (American Heart Association required for permanent conversion)
- Strong clinical skills including vital signs, patient prep, and assisting procedures
- Experience or training in phlebotomy
- Ability to accurately document in EHR systems
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience in women's health or outpatient clinic settings (not required)
- Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR systems (training provided)
- Experience with lab procedures and specimen handling
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Work Environment
- Full-time schedule: MondayFriday with flexible start times (7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 8:30 AM)
- Back-office role with heavy patient interaction
- Collaborative team environment focused on patient care
- Exposure to standard clinical equipment including EKG, phlebotomy tools, and treatment instruments
- Emphasis on safety, infection control, and professional clinical standards

This is a Contract position based out of San Marcos, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.
