Learn more about the benefits of joining Team UES and our core values at careers.teamues.com.

Position Overview

Are you ready to help lead growth for one of the fastest-growing AEC firm in the United States?

At UES, we are uniquely positioned to exponentially expand our footprint within the Energy sector, and we are looking for a high-impact strategic driver to get us there. As the National Growth Leader for our Power service line, you will be the national architect for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities that align with our strategic priorities in environmental consulting, sustainable infrastructure, and geophysical services.

Reporting directly to our Chief Sales Officer, you will serve as a key individual contributor driving national client acquisition and fostering strategic partnerships across both public and private sectors. This is a growth-focused role that requires a deep understanding of how Environmental, Geotechnical, or Construction Materials Testing (CMT) services solve the complex challenges of the national power sector.

We are looking for a seasoned business development professional, preferably with a PE or PG, who can translate technical capabilities into client-focused solutions and lead our continued expansion supporting critical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Lead strategic business development efforts across key markets nationally, primarily for Power, including environmental engineering, geotechnical services, construction support, and infrastructure consulting.
  • Identify and pursue new client relationships and contract opportunities through proactive outreach, networking, and market research.
  • Develop and execute client pursuit plans that align with company capabilities, growth objectives, and market trends.
  • Collaborate with regional and technical leaders to develop account strategies and influence the development of tailored solutions for prospective clients
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and professional organizations to enhance brand visibility and build relationships
  • Lead or support pre-positioning efforts, including opportunity tracking, team-building, and proposal strategy in coordination with marketing and proposal teams
  • Support contract negotiations, teaming agreements, and pricing strategy for key pursuits
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless handoff from pursuit to project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive business development experience, preferably in the A/E/C, environmental consulting, or infrastructure industry.
  • Proven track record of building client relationships and securing contracts with public agencies, private sector clients, or utility/infrastructure owners.
  • Deep understanding of the sales cycle for professional services, including pre-positioning, capture planning, and proposal development.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand technical services and translate them into client-focused solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with CRM platforms and business development reporting tools.
  • Ability to travel regularly to client sites, industry events, and company offices across the region or country.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license is strongly preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in Environmental consulting, Geotechnical engineering, or Construction Materials Testing (CMT), specifically within the Power sector.
  • Robust network of national contacts within major utility providers and power infrastructure developers.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires occasional travel, approximately 30% to 50% of the time, to support business objectives and client engagements. Travel may be both scheduled and on short notice, depending on project needs. Destinations typically include job sites, field locations, or regional offices, where work may be conducted in outdoor or operational environments. Adherence to all company safety protocols and use of PPE is required during travel and on-site work.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring flexibility to work effectively from both a professional office and work site setting.
  • On-Site Office Requirements:
    • Work is performed at a desk for extended periods using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment in a climate-controlled office environment.
    • Regular in-person communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders is required.
    • Physical demands may include sitting for long durations, occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of materials up to 15 pounds
