The Opportunity:

Would you like the opportunity to expand and build on your ship building knowledge and capabilities? CACI is seeking a Naval Marine Engineer who will support the design, development, and construction of main machinery, ship systems, DPS, propulsion, and other machinery systems, and mission systems interfaces for the MSC and US NAVY ship acquisition programs. In this role, you will develop preliminary system designs including schematics and Ship Specification to ensure design elements meet Capability Development Document (CDD) and all regulatory body requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Support design efforts for T-ALTs, OERA, Machinery selection, and auxiliary systems design and analysis.

  • Task management and interface with Government POC. Provide direct support to Navy Ship Design Managers (SDMs).

  • Travel to perform shipchecks based on ship availability or 3D model review to investigate system/equipment to incorporate into each work package.

  • Development of marine auxiliary and piping systems, review and analyzing preliminary and functional design documentation and development of ship system specifications.

  • Provide technical support on various engineering projects alone and as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).

  • Create a supportive environment by fostering a culture of integrity and trust where your character and innovation are valued.

  • Conduct a supportability study to determine the current and future supportability levels of equipment and address maintenance, TRANSALTs, reliability, and obsolescence issues.

  • Perform analyses and inspections to identify essential modernization, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance actions to allow the ships to reach the expected end of service life.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree

  • 4 or more years of working with shipbuilding design or Navy systems

  • Experience in ship auxiliary systems experience, which should include auxiliary system operation, maintenance, and design work for machinery upgrades and/or analyses for commercial, MSC, and/or Navy vessels.

  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and develop mechanical and electrical drawings and technical manuals.

  • Detailed knowledge of U.S. Regulatory Body standards and ability to develop and prepare ship documents for compliance with ABS Rules, Navy Standards, and other applicable engineering standards.

  • Experience with Military Sealift Command (MSC) marine engineering and/or Navy design practices.

  • Solid understanding of naval engineering disciplines and project management principles

  • Willing and able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance. Current and active Secret preferred.

  • Willing and able to travel up to approximately 25%

  • Design or operating experience with ESB Class ship

  • Understanding the parameters of various design tools

  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and/or 3D
