Job Summary:
Nurse Educator (RN Educator) — Salinas, California. The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse to demonstrate knowledge and skills to support the joint replacement population across the continuum of care, from pre-operative preparation through recovery. This role coordinates nursing care using the nursing process and supports program certification requirements. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days, Monday through Friday (8:00am to 4:30pm); 40 hours per week (minimum).
  • Required Qualifications:Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of CaliforniaBasic Life Support (BLS) / Healthcare Provider status per American Heart Association standardsBachelor’s Degree in NursingMinimum of six (6) to twelve (12) months of Epic experience within the past yearMinimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience, including previous program development and implementation experienceThorough knowledge of Joint Commission (TJC) disease-specific and other regulatory requirementsAbility to effectively utilize equipment and software, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft ExcelStrong written and verbal communication, coordination, and problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal skills for working with clients, physicians, co-workers, and the community, with a collaborative work style
  • Preferred Qualifications:Clinical Nurse Specialist/Nurse Practitioner certificationRecent experience in orthopedics
  • Responsibilities:Facilitates and coordinates care for patients determined to have joint replacement surgery by systematically and continually performing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care in accordance with the nursing process and current Joint Commission certification and required data reporting agenciesAssists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs supporting Joint Replacement Program certification goalsDevelops, manages, implements, and evaluates the Joint Replacement program in coordination with the program committeeAssists patients in understanding treatment and recovery plans; develops a follow-up system to provide ongoing support during recovery to improve quality of lifeProvides psychosocial and emotional support to joint replacement patients and their familiesWorks closely with medical staff to coordinate timely careAssists in the development of appropriate educational materials for patients, families, and clinical staff in collaboration with the Education Department and joint certification committeeAttends and participates in joint certification meetings and other related committee/taskforce activities as neededProvides pre-operative class education to prepare patients for surgery and after-care
