Nursing Assistant Position
The purpose of this position is to serve as a Nursing Assistant in the fast-paced Nursing Operations Service at the Brockton, MA campus and assist licensed nursing staff, and other members of the care team in the care of the outpatient Veterans. All duties performed will be provided under close supervision/direction of a RN and the incumbent will refer issues/questions to supervisors or other healthcare professionals. Depending on grade and assignment duties may include but are not limited to:
- Taking-recording-reporting vital signs accurately
- Assisting with total ADL care, treatments, including but not limited to bowel and bladder management, feeding patients, and repositioning
- Assisting with hoyer lift transfers and wheelchair usage
- Providing safe environments, hourly rounds, and other duties or care as directed by Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses or providers
- Incumbent will initiate emergency action in life threatening situations such as cardiac and/or respiratory arrest, massive bleeding, shock, or assaultive behavior and will alert licensed personal immediately
- Performing EKG's
- Documenting ADL care provided.
- Obtaining specimens, properly labeling and preparing specimens for transport for testing
- POC testing
- Cleaning/disinfecting rooms/medical equipment after patient use
- Performs other duties as assigned
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Evenings, with rotation of weekends and holidays.
