The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Acute Rehabilitation Hospital of Plano provides direct patient care, assists the nursing team, and delivers exceptional service in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. The CNA supports patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, comfort, safety, and independence throughout the rehabilitation process.

CNA Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care to patients in a manner conducive to their safety, comfort, and well-being consistent with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Promote and support the greatest possible degree of independence for patients.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, mobility, and repositioning.
  • Communicate patient status, observations, and concerns to the supervising nurse at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Contribute knowledge of patient conditions and needs to care plans.
  • Assist in the implementation of care plans as directed within established policies and procedures.
  • Observe, report, and document patient conditions and changes as required.
  • Comply with safe lifting, transfer, and mobility procedures in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, functional, and available for patient care needs.
  • Perform incidental housekeeping or support tasks as necessary to maintain patient care areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CNA Requirements:

  • Current State certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required.
  • Previous rehabilitation, acute care, hospital, or skilled nursing experience preferred.
  • Complete familiarity with the duties and responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Strong observation and patient care skills required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting and physical demands of the role.
