Job description
Serves as a subject matter expert for nutrition, labeling, and regulatory compliance across all WWGS private brand products, including Amazon brands and Whole Foods Market brand products. Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure product labels are accurate, compliant with applicable regulations, and aligned with brand quality standards. Works with suppliers to develop product specifications, generates pack copy reports for use by label design teams, reviews product labels for regulatory compliance, and ensures label claims are substantiated. Provides guidance on nutrition benchmarking, claims strategy, and multi-banner labeling requirements.

Key job responsibilities
•Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Product Development, Sourcing, Suppliers and Product Commercialization teams to support new product development and label creation across all WWGS private brand portfolios (Amazon brands and WFM brands).
• Participate in the product compliance specification review and approval process to confirm product compliance with WWGS quality standards, brand standards, and federal/state regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, FTC).
• Ensure product claims are supported with substantiation and comply with WWGS policies; evaluate claims across banners for consistency and regulatory alignment.
• Produce pack copy reports for use by label design teams that include all required label information per banner-specific conventions.
• Identify issues requiring legal team review to ensure product labels comply with applicable regulations across all WWGS brands.
• Work with Quality Assurance and Food Safety sub-teams to determine correct allergen statements based on product risk, facility information, testing results, and vendor communication.
• Review packaging during art development and first production approval to ensure final labels are accurate and match the approved specification for the applicable brand.
• Evaluate nutritional test results for accuracy and compliance with product specifications and nutrient content claims; develop customized nutrition and claims strategies (e.g., protein claims, no added sugar, gluten-free certifications).
• Monitor and interpret regulatory changes (FDA, USDA, FTC, state-level) impacting WWGS private brand products; communicate implications to stakeholders and implement necessary label updates.
• Support USDA NBFDS (National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard) compliance and Source to Avoid requirements across the WWGS private brand portfolio.
• Ensure multi-banner labeling conventions are applied correctly, maintaining brand-specific identity while adhering to unified regulatory standards.
• Act as a subject matter expert on nutrition and label compliance for cross-functional teams across WWGS, including Amazon and WFM brand stakeholders.
• Identify areas for business process improvements including documentation of standard operating procedures; support initiatives that drive efficiency and continuous improvement across the unified compliance function.
• Remain current with nutrition, health, wellness, and regulatory trends in the food industry.
• Assist Team Leader with business initiatives; may also assist with evaluation and hiring of team members.
