The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is a health care provider who works on a primary care team. This job allows the FNP to work independently and make many decisions on their own.

The FNP usually takes care of adult and elderly patients aged 18 and older. They use tools and data to help these patients get the right care and resources.

As part of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Care Team, the FNP helps coordinate patient care to ensure the best clinical results, quality service, and cost-effectiveness. They provide direct care to patients who need assistance from a mid-level provider and offer education and advice on medications to patients as needed.

The FNP follows guidelines to make sure patients receive the necessary preventive health services. They review medical records for active-duty military members to assess their health and fitness before and after deployment. They also evaluate telephone consultations and messages from patients and staff.

The FNP advises patients on risk factors and preventive services, prioritizing their needs and referring them to specialists, wellness centers, or prevention programs as needed. They develop protocols based on clinical guidelines and create tools to monitor and improve the health of their patient population.

The FNP also knows what support staff can do and helps them grow professionally to improve patient care.

• Key Responsibilities :
• Conduct medical assessments for deployment status in a non-military setting.
• Review health records before deployment for health conditions that may affect deployment.
• Check the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for current medications and discuss the use of over-the-counter drugs and supplements with patients.
• Ensure all medications are safe to use in the deployment area and handle any necessary approvals with Public Health.
• Provide health education and suggest medical referrals for any deployment-related health issues.
• Keep accurate records of health assessments.
• Ensure service members receive complete counseling on contraception, pregnancy, and menstrual suppression, and prescribe medications for deployment as needed.
• Make deployment decisions and update necessary documentation.
• Coordinate referrals with the primary care manager.
• Complete necessary paperwork for medical waivers regarding deployment restrictions.
• Document workload using a reporting system.
• Work Schedule :

Monday to Friday, working 9 hours between 7 : 00 AM and 5 : 00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break.

• Minimum Qualifications :
• Degree :
• Master's degree in nursing.
• Education :
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Certification :
• Certified Nurse Practitioner from a recognized certification body.
• Experience :
• At least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner after graduation.
• Licensure :
• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license.
• Life Support Certification :
• Hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Security :
• Ability to pass a government background check and obtain security clearance.
