Dental Assistant (EFDA)
Integrated Clinical Services (ICS) provides quality health services for people who experience barriers to accessing care. The Dental Program works with many community partners, targeting underserved populations in Multnomah County to ensure access to dental services including providing education, prevention and dental treatment. The Dental Assistant (EFDA) is responsible for a variety of duties to assist Dentists and Dental Hygienists in the delivery of dental care to patients. Creates a work culture of respect, trust and understanding for the highly diverse populations the Health Department serves in the office and in the community.
This recruitment will fill Bilingual Spanish and English Dental Assistant positions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) : Bilingual in Spanish and English (language testing may be required). As a newly hired EFDA, you will receive a one-time New Hire Recruitment and Retention Incentive payment of $1,500 on your first paycheck. The incentive will be prorated based on the position's FTE status. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, regular, temporary, limited duration, and on-call positions.
As an EFDA, you will perform the following duties :
- Provides direct clinical assistance and support to Dentists and Dental Hygienists
- Performs all aspects of 4-handed dentistry using effective and efficient techniques; mixes materials; places rubber dam; takes study models impressions.
- Anticipates provider needs during treatment. Keeps the provider informed of all schedule changes and unfilled appointments. Triages emergency patients, makes providers aware of clients needs.
- Performs Dental Assisting and expanded functions, including rubber cup prophylaxis, applying sealants, polishing amalgams, placing / removing matrix retainers, removes excess cement and placing temporary restorations.

Preferred Qualification : One (1) year of responsible dental assistant experience. This position requires a background investigation, which may include being fingerprinted. Employment is contingent on passing a background investigation.
