This role is ideal for a seasoned healthcare scheduling professional with strong multitasking abilities, exceptional patient communication skills, and experience navigating fast-paced medical office operations. This position plays a critical role in delivering a positive patient experience while ensuring efficient scheduling coordination for providers, clinical staff, and patients. Position Details Job Title: Senior Medical Scheduler Location: Denton, TX Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST Pay Rate: $25.00/hour Industry: Healthcare / Oncology About the Role The Senior Medical Scheduler serves as a key administrative and patient support resource within a specialty healthcare environment. This individual will coordinate patient appointments, referrals, testing, and scheduling workflows while supporting physicians, clinical teams, and front office operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive medical scheduling experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining a compassionate and professional approach to patient care. Key Responsibilities Manage high-volume scheduling for new patients, referrals, follow-up visits, and returning patients Answer and route incoming calls while providing professional and timely patient support Maintain physician schedules, including meetings, call coverage, clinic templates, and scheduling adjustments Coordinate outpatient testing, procedures, surgeries, and hospital admissions as needed Obtain insurance authorizations, referrals, and required pre-certifications Communicate appointment details, procedure preparation instructions, and follow-up care information to patients Collect co-pays, deductibles, and patient financial responsibilities Accurately document patient information within electronic medical record (EMR) systems Assist with pre-operative coordination and post-operative scheduling when applicable Prepare reports, correspondence, and administrative documentation as requested Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality standards Provide support for additional front office functions and team coverage as needed Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of 3 years of medical scheduling experience in a healthcare or specialty clinic environment Strong knowledge of medical office scheduling workflows and patient coordination Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel Ability to multitask efficiently across multiple systems and applications Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Professional, patient-focused demeanor with a commitment to customer service excellence Preferred Qualifications Previous oncology or specialty healthcare experience preferred Experience with EMR systems, insurance verification, referrals, and pre-authorizations Familiarity with medical terminology, scheduling procedures, and surgical coordination Experience supporting multiple providers or high-volume practices Why This Opportunity?
