Team Lead, Medical Fitness
The Team Lead will assist both the Director and the Assistant Director in the supervision of staff, hiring, and overall direction of the department. Team lead will provide structure and guidance in specific Medical Fitness programs and focus on continued development with clinical judgement. Reports to: Director, Medical Fitness
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Lead the Medical Fitness programs and the implementation of education/structure of exercise classes.
- Performs UMC required Leadership duties to include but not limited to; supervise staff, lead one on one (O3) meetings with various levels of staff.
- Manage Personal Training for all of Connect.
- Maximize the safety of all facility users by overseeing the facility's safety and emergency response. Ensure all staff maintain current training for safety and emergency response.
- Manage the maintenance and scheduled service for all equipment used in the department.
- Coordinate with student interns and provide education/mentorship.
- Evaluate muscle function including strength and power using a variety of resistance devices and specialized assessment equipment.
- Coordinate and manage the use of membership software used in the facility.
- Oversee member corporate accounts.
- Prepare fitness profile reports and assist in the development of customized participant exercise programs.
- Ensure timely entry and processing of invoices.
- Works with marketing resources on promotional strategies and membership sales.
- Run ad-hoc reports and analyze as needed.
- Supervise group exercise classes and personal training schedules.
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in related field of study OR Bachelor's degree + 5 years of related experience
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
- Current BLS- Basic Life Skills Certification
- ACLS certification required within 12 months of employment
- Desirable certifications ACSM CEP, NSCA CSCS, ACSM CPT, NASM CPT
- AED Training required within 90 days of hire into the role
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated competence in executing fitness prescriptions, receiving, and translating information, evaluating results, charting, and reporting
- Ability to provide oversight to assure that the facilities and equipment are safe, well maintained, and meet cleanliness standards
- Strong leadership skills that include the ability to delegate tasks and ensure deadlines are met
- Ability to operate various fitness tools and equipment such as resistance tubes/bands, strength machines, cardio machines, kettlebells, fitness weights, exercise balls, TRX, etc
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
The Medical Fitness Team Leader will need to interact with many people including but not limited to the Director of Medical Fitness, Assistant Director of Medical Fitness, Directors/Supervisors of other Hospital Departments, support personnel, and most importantly members and their family members or caregivers.
Physical Capabilities
Work frequently requires walking, standing, talking, hearing, listening, use of indoor and outdoor workout equipment, including but not limited to: treadmills, cycles, strength training circuit and audiovisual equipment. Must be able to work long hours that include weekends.
Environmental Working Conditions
This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures.
