JOB PURPOSE:

The Outreach and Community Educator – Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is responsible for delivering prevention and education programming to youth and community groups to raise awareness about gender-based violence, promote healthy relationships, and foster community-based solutions. This role centers equity, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed practice to engage diverse populations, particularly marginalized and underserved communities. This position is responsible for ensuring the contract requirements are met and initiatives are carried out.

In addition to delivering impactful educational programs, Outreach and Community Educator serve as the voice of the Center, raising awareness and advocating for its mission of Changing Lives. Healing Relationships. Helping People Thrive. – “Strengthening families today for stronger communities tomorrow.” Through their outreach efforts, they build meaningful connections by providing accurate information, sharing resources, and fostering understanding about the Center’s services and goals. These ambassadors play a pivotal role in connecting individuals to appropriate care by offering tailored linkages to resources and ensuring community members receive the support they require.

The Outreach and Community Educator is an energetic self-starter who is able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relate well to community partners, co-workers and County representatives. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. The individual in this position must be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, provide timely responses to requests and deadlines and work well under pressure.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Program Delivery & Facilitation

· Deliver relationship violence prevention curriculum to middle and high school students in the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys.

· Facilitates Workshop Cohorts, reaching multiple student cohorts through adaptive Healthy Relationships Plus Program topics.

· Maintain a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate approach to all facilitation efforts.

2. Curriculum Implementation & Flexibility

· Offer single-session or multi-session delivery formats, including classroom series, Lunch-time activities, assemblies, and community workshops

3. Evaluation & Data Tracking

· Administer pre/post assessments using standardized evaluation tools to measure knowledge gains, attitude shifts, and satisfaction levels.

· Collaborate with the Quality, Training & Compliance Department to ensure fidelity to data collection protocols.

4. Community & School Engagement

· Assist the Outreach and Community Education Lead with collaboration of school partners, educators, and administrators for programming related to healthy relationships.

· Support outreach efforts to inform partners of available programming and maintain strong working relationships with school and community stakeholders.

5. Event Coordination Support

· Support the organization and participation in youth engagement events (e.g., Lunch & Learns, social outings) that reinforce curriculum content and build community.

· Represent C&FC at community resource fairs and prevention outreach events, promoting healthy relationships and the work of Child & Family Center.

6. Team Collaboration & Training

· Attend internal team meetings and trainings to stay current on curriculum, trauma-informed care practices, and youth engagement strategies.

7. Outreach & Media

· Assist with social and traditional media content creation and outreach to raise awareness about GBV prevention and healthy relationships among youth.

· Contribute to content for newsletters and public awareness campaigns.

8. Documentation & Reporting

· Support the maintenance and accurate recording of programming, attendance, evaluation results, and other metrics in alignment with grant and organizational requirements.

· Assist with reporting for grants and funders, including success stories and outcome data.

9. Cross-Program Collaboration

· Support the Community Outreach & Education Lead in coordinating with other C&FC departments (e.g., outreach and prevention, substance use treatment, mental health services) to align and enhance outreach and prevention efforts.

· Identify and leverage connections with broader county initiatives and community partners

10. Professional Representation

· Act as a youth advocate and role model, promoting gender equity, healthy development, and community safety.

11. All other relevant duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE:

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt – Part Time

Work-Week: Sunday - Saturday

  • 4 hours per day, M-F with some weekends required for events
  • Actual work schedule is subject to change as agreed with Direct Supervisor and based on business/program needs.
  • Must work onsite at least two days per week.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing domestic violence prevention services or related field (or equivalent experience). Relevant education in domestic violence prevention or the public health field may substitute for experience if coursework directly aligns with the role's objectives.
  • Familiarity with local youth-serving organizations and school systems.
  • Experience developing educational curricula
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth, preferably in education, advocacy, or community settings.
  • Understanding of gender-based violence and its root causes, including intersections with race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and systemic inequality.
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed and survivor-centered principles.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Agency’s liability policy.
  • Must pass all applicable health, fingerprint/LiveScan and DMV clearances.
  • Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
