Job Title : Overnight Youth Counselor
Location : Des Moines, IA (South)
Pay for this position is posted at : $18.00
Schedule for this position : Wednesday-Friday and every other Saturday OR Sunday-Tuesday and every other Saturday from 9 : 45pm to 9 : 00am.

Position Overview : Works under the direct supervision of the Milieu Treatment Coordinator for assigned building. The Overnight Youth Counselor is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of residents during late evening and early morning hours. Supports the overall vision of reducing physical restraints and lock seclusions by creating a sanctuary of safety that eliminates barriers to healing.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensure the safety and security children and youth on the unit
- Complete and document visual checks on the children at least every 20 minutes throughout the overnight hours
- Provide assistance to children who may be restless or awake at night, new admissions or children who are creating a disturbance
- Prepare and serve breakfast to the children
- Assist in getting children ready for school in the morning
- Maintain unit cleanliness and sanitation
