What you will be doing as a Patent Attorney
As a patent attorney, you play an important role in bringing innovation to the market. Thanks to the combination of your technical expertise and your legal skills, you deal with varied patent issues at national and international clients. Every day you explore different topics for a wide variety of clients. You will be focusing on clients in the Biotech / Life Science and Pharmaceuticals industry.
You have a strong personality who can impart knowledge and experience across the team when required and who can also show consistent high work output. You advise inventors, heads of research, in-house attorneys and commercial leaders. You help them protect their inventions, knowledge and intellectual property. You actively support them managing and developing their patent portfolio. You work closely with your team to achieve the best results. You will work in a matrix team structure, with other attorneys within your team and at various stages of qualification and experience.
Your professional qualities
You are a qualified patent attorney with a background within the field of Biotech / Life Sciences or Pharma. Experience within nucleic acid technologies, particularly oligonucleotide-based drug development (siRNA, antisensen oligonucleotides, etc.), but also amplification-based detection, sequencing, recombination, genetic engineering, genomics, transcriptomics, bioinformatics, but also proteomics, immunology, and biopharmaceuticals (antibodies, vaccines, cell-based therapies, etc.) is highly appreciated.
In addition, you recognize yourself in the following competencies :
- You have demonstrable business acumen and knowledge with the ability to quickly understand key IP issues relating to a business and their commercial developments.
- You are a confident self-starter with drive and ambition to establish new client relationships, build business and expand the NLO's global offering.
- You have a proven ability to work as part of a team - an ability to motivate and inspire others towards a common goal is especially helpful.
- You have strong emotional intelligence in order to build relationships with colleagues, create and maintain client relationships.
- Importantly, you are capable of acting upon your own initiative. You have independence of thought and an autonomous, proactive approach to your work.
- You are fluent in English in word and writing. Being a native English speaker would be considered a plus.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of working experience as a patent attorney or IP professional in industry or private practice
- If you are a qualified European or US patent attorney, or currently following the training it is a large plus.
