Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate, full-time opportunity for a Quality Control Technician, located at the Toledo facility, 3332 St. Lawrence Drive, Toledo, OH 43605.
JOB SUMMARY
A Quality Control Technician will analyze and monitor various parameters through product sampling and analysis, and perform COA data entry into a computer-based system in a production environment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform basic laboratory functions utilizing standardized equipment, following standardized methods.
- Accurately log results of analysis on lab forms and entry of data points into various computer programs
- Evaluation of material and samples against given standards.
- Adhere to and promote all food safety system guidelines & practices.
- Create certificate of analysis for lots produced and verify product meets customer specification.
- Communicate laboratory analysis with stakeholders to ensure products are kept within tolerance.
- Compare sample results to specifications and make quality decisions based on those evaluations.
- Must be able to take inventory of lab supplies and equipment daily.
- Daily housekeeping of laboratory including general maintenance and light cleaning of laboratory areas.

Michigan Sugar Company was founded in 1906 when six smaller sugar companies merged their operations. In 2002, Michigan Sugar Company became a grower-owned cooperative and in 2004, it merged with Monitor Sugar Company to form the company that exists today.
Michigan Sugar Company is headquartered in Bay City and has sugar beet processing facilities in Bay City, Caro, Croswell and Sebewaing. Its nearly 900 grower-owners plant and harvest up to 140,000 acres of sugar beets each year in 17 Michigan counties, as well as Ontario, Canada. Those beets are sliced at the factories and turned into about 1.3 billion pounds of sugar annually.
That sugar is sold to industrial, commercial, and retail customers under the Pioneer and Big Chief brands.
