Summary : The Consumer Lending Loan Processor supports Tropical Financial Credit Union's mission of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace. This role is responsible for processing, funding, and servicing consumer loan requests, including Auto, Unsecured, RV, Motorcycle, Boat, and Share Pledge loans, with accuracy, efficiency, and strict adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements. The Loan Processor manages the end-to-end processing of consumer loans by reviewing applications, preparing and finalizing loan documents, clearing conditions, funding loans, and completing post-closing reviews. This position also serves as a key point of contact for members and internal staff, providing guidance throughout the loan process to ensure documents are completed correctly and funding occurs without delays. Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, collaboration with lending teams, and a commitment to operational excellence and member service while meeting funding timelines with minimal errors.

JOB SPECIFIC INFORMATION Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following :

  • Reviews consumer loan applications for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility prior to funding.
  • Prepares, generates, and finalizes loan documents in compliance with TFCU policies and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinates loan closings with members, ensuring all required documents are executed and funds are disbursed timely.
  • Clears loan conditions and processes loan modifications, verifying all documentation is complete prior to funding.
  • Sets up and posts funded loans accurately in the core system.
  • Processes loan-related disbursements, including credit cards, payoffs, draws, and wire requests.
  • Conducts post-closing audits of funded loans to confirm accuracy, document integrity, and compliance.
  • Scans, indexes, and maintains loan documentation in accordance with record retention requirements.
  • Works closely with Lending Officers and internal departments to resolve funding issues and prevent processing delays.
  • Responds to member and staff inquiries related to loan status, documentation, and funding requirements.
  • Supports members by explaining loan documents and assisting with application completion to ensure a smooth lending experience.
  • Identifies and escalates suspicious activity, including potential fraud or CTR circumvention, following established procedures.
  • Tracks workload to ensure funding goals are met while maintaining a low error rate.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to cross-sell additional lending products when appropriate.

Ensures all loan activity aligns with TFCU policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards, escalating potential compliance risks as needed

BSA Compliance : Every employee is required to uphold the Credit Union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) policies and procedures.

  • This role takes into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.
  • In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually.
  • Ensure ongoing individual compliance with all regulatory requirements established in the SAFE Act, if required.
  • Knowledgeable of BSA, Customer Identification Program (CIP), USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act, Fair Lending, and Risk-Based Pricing.
  • Comply with all TFCU policies and procedures to ensure compliance with such regulations.
  • Performs related duties as required with or without accommodation.

  • Education / Experience :

  • High school diploma required. College degree or college courses in a related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum three years customer service experience in professional services environment required.
  • Minimum of two years consumer lending processing experience or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one-year Credit Union / financial services experience required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of loan contracts including APR, amortization schedules, simple interest calculations and ability to analyze financial data.
  • Knowledge of credit reports, credit scoring, title documents, vehicle valuations, appraisals and auto insurance, payment protection (Credit Life and Credit Disability), GAP, VPP and MBP products.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic arithmetic.
  • Basic understanding of underwriting guidelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Strong technical abilities to learn and effectively conduct transactions on member database, interact and communicate with enterprise communication systems, e.g., phone calls, messaging, email, etc.
