Title : Production Operator Location : 8360 Market St, Houston, TX 77029 Duration : 4 Months (Extension Possible) Schedule : Shift : Rotating shift every 2 weeks. 7 : 00 am to 7 : 00 pm / 7 : 00 pm to 7 : 00 am Pay Rate : $ 21.91 / Hr. on W2 basis and without benefits Job Summary As a member of the production crew, you will operate and support two production lines in a fast-paced, continuous manufacturing environment. The Level 1 Operator is responsible for safely producing high-quality products and packaging that meet customer expectations, while adhering to all company safety, quality, and productivity standards. Key Responsibilities Safety & Environmental Adhere to Owens Corning Safety Standards and all plant safety policies — safety is a condition of employment. Take personal ownership for safe work practices and ensure team members do the same. Immediately report all accidents, near misses, or injuries, regardless of severity. Participate in safety, housekeeping, and environmental programs, including TPM, Focused Improvement Events, and Safety Committees. Properly dispose of waste and follow environmental regulations. Keep work areas and equipment clean, organized, and safe. Inspect equipment and vehicles prior to use, maintaining operational readiness. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Participate in TPM activities and 5S housekeeping standards. Assist in preventative maintenance (PM) and machine optimization tasks. Use Focused Improvement tools to identify and solve process issues. Maintain and update Daily Management (DM) and Step Boards. Work toward zero injuries, zero defects, and zero losses. Quality Perform regular quality checks and inspections. Monitor control panels, adjusting speed, delays, and other parameters as needed. Communicate quality concerns and unusual conditions to supervisors or quality personnel. Ensure finished products meet required specifications for weight, dimensions, and appearance. Keep layout boards and documentation up to date. Productivity & Operations Operate key equipment including palletizers, shingle and stretch wrappers, and banding machines. Operate powered industrial vehicles (forklifts, mules, sweepers, and scrubbers). Follow inventory control procedures and apply proper labeling. Accurately record production data, including scrap and rework quantities. Support production continuity by covering team absences and assisting with product and color changeovers. Monitor equipment, respond to alarms, and assist maintenance during outages. Collaboration & Other Duties Communicate effectively with team members and leadership. Support training and onboarding of new employees. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities. Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs). Maintain reliable attendance and willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Skills & Abilities Strong commitment to safety and teamwork. Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting ability. High attention to detail with effective multitasking skills. Basic math and measurement competency. Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English. Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, SAP, and internal systems such as IVC). Education & Experience Required : High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Preferred : Minimum 1 year of manufacturing or process-related experience. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Must be drug-free and able to wear PPE for up to 12-hour shifts. Exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, fiberglass, noise, and extreme temperatures. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs repeatedly. Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching for 8–12 hours. Ability to climb stairs or work from heights as required. Must be able to distinguish colors and shading. Willingness to work flexible rotating shifts, weekends, and mandatory overtime. Ability to become certified to operate a forklift.
