Potatoes USA, the nation’s official potato marketing and research organization, is searching for a full-time Research Program Manager to join our team in downtown Denver. As representatives of U.S. potato growers and importers, our mission is simple: to strengthen the demand for potatoes. But not just a few specific types. No, we work day in and day out to fuel demand for ALL forms and types of potatoes: fresh table stock, chipping, frozen, dehydrated, seed potatoes – pretty much every potato you can think of (except for the sweet ones).

The primary responsibility of the Research Program Manager is to assist the Research and Marketing Departments with the communication, maintenance, and deployment of the production and industry research conducted for the benefit of the U.S. potato industry. The Research Program Manager works closely with Production Research and Marketing leadership, data providers, external researchers and industry stakeholders ensuring the availability, accuracy and usefulness of potato industry data.

This position requires an ability to work with various stakeholders, as well as excellent project management and communication skills. The work schedule is Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm, and Friday 8:00am – 1:30pm, with an opportunity to work remotely Wednesdays and Fridays.


Specific Duties Include:
  • Assist the research and marketing departments in the planning, development, facilitation, analysis, maintenance and deployment of production and market research
  • Directly contributes to, and helps manage, the creation of research reports, and presentations and disseminates information through various channels
  • Work closely with the Meetings and Events Manager with scheduling, coordination, and facilitation of various meetings, following up on action items, as necessary
  • Writes reports and other communications, collects, interprets, and analyzes data, and makes actionable recommendations to support the potato industry
  • Communicate research insights to the U.S. potato industry through presentations, articles, and newsletters
  • Oversee seed variety research both internationally and domestically
  • Supports the research and marketing departments with relevant, timely, and accurate reporting to program stakeholders
  • Ensures the accurate and prompt collection of data generated in variety development programs
  • Coordinates variety development programs; maintains regular and accurate communication with trial coordinators, facility managers, shipping companies, nutrition laboratories and others
  • Research potato marketing opportunities, analyzing and reporting insights
  • Assists and corresponds with clients, customers, and vendors consistent with the mission and vision of Potatoes USA
  • Attend quarterly conferences to present research and development programs to stakeholder networks on behalf of Potatoes USA

Experience, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree preferred with a minimum of three years’ professional experience; agriculture experience/background highly desired
  • Strong program or project management experience in research, agriculture, or a data-driven environment
  • Experience working with cross-functional and external stakeholders, including vendors or research partners
  • Academic and practical experience with a wide array of agricultural data, reporting, and research methodologies
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and follow-up skills
  • Must be a collaborative team player with a problem-solving mentality
  • Quarterly travel within the US to attend conferences on behalf of Potatoes USA is required
