Department: SCO -

Reports to: Senior Manager of Care Management

FLSA: Exempt

Classification: Regular Full-Time (35 hours)

Grade: 11

Salary Range: $70,000 to $75,000 (commensurate with experience)

SUMMARY OVERVIEW

The SCO Program Manager I will supervise Case Workers/Managers. The incumbent is responsible for assuring the agency's SCO casework services are delivered in an effective, efficient and caring manner. All services and team activities will be performed under deadline and within budget. The SCO Program Manager I is expected to set professional standards for his/her staff's work performance and to direct their team to be strongly committed to the agency's mission and goals. The SCO Program Manager also works collaboratively with colleagues within and outside the agency to identify, develop, and implement strategies that address issues relevant to clients' needs and promote elders' ability to maintain their lives with dignity in their community. The SCO Program Manager will be creative in implementing new programs to increase client base and to build community relations on multiple levels. The SCO Program Manager will project a positive image and approach in his/her daily interactions with all staff, clients, vendors and providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Job functions: Duties ___1___ through __13___are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. All other job duties are secondary functions.

  1. Manage, motivate, direct, train, participate in hiring, and discipline all team members effectively.
  2. Provide clinical supervision on an individual and/or group basis as needed.
  3. Take a creative approach in planning, organizing and implementing agency goals and initiate effective strategies within budget and strict timeframes.
  4. Conduct reviews and measurements of staff through performance reviews; and conduct departmental reviews to ensure department meets contractual compliance protocols.
  5. Communicate agency goals to team members and assist them in understanding how their activities relate to these goals.
  6. Serve as a resource regarding the interpretation of EOEA regulations relating to home care programs and agency policies and procedures.
  7. Participate in home care visits on an as need basis for special cases, and conduct quality assurance of home visits conducted by case managers.
  8. Establish and maintain performance standards in accordance to program and EOEA requirements.
  9. Take an active role in agency meetings, committees and task forces.
  10. Project a positive image when representing the agency in meetings with community agencies, task forces and vendors.
  11. Attend training and seminars to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the position.
  12. Act as Step 1 Grievance Officer as per SEIU Local 509 Bargaining Unit agreement.
  13. Perform other tasks or special projects assigned by the Executive Director, rector and/or Senior Staff.

COMPETENCIES

  • Must have effective communications both verbal and written; training and presentation skills; coaching, counseling and interpersonal skills. Problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail is required. Proven ability to perform community outreach; should have diversity awareness. Should have insight into understanding agency's mission and should be sensitive to elder care.
  • Must have auditory, speaking and mobile capacity, and ability to communicate by phone.
  • Must have computer experience, and be able to perform basic data entry and utilize word processing. Experience working with MS Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Provide clinical supervision on an individual and/or group basis as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, filing cabinets.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • The employee is frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 25% travel. Must be able to travel throughout the community under all weather conditions and perform home visits.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, sociology, nursing, or related field with at least three to five years social work experience required.
  • A Master's Degree in social work or psychology is preferred but not required. Licensure (LCSW or LICSW) is preferred.
  • Candidate should have at least 2 years supervisory/management experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in the Massachusetts Elder Service system or with SCO programs
  • Experience in program development, planning and implementation is preferred.
