Solstice Consulting Group is seeking a Project Engineer for a chemical client located in Houston, Texas. Role is on a 9/80 work schedule in the East Houston facility with significant field travel when needed.
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering and 3+ years’ experience in field-based project work, including process design and layout, preferably in a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of basic piping, civil, and structural systems including piping specifications, materials, and routing practices.
• Experience with AutoCAD strongly preferred
• Base salary of $100k - $115k DOE plus 10% bonus opportunity and excellent benefits
Role Overview:
This role will have an understanding of piping standards, process equipment, and safety requirements, and will support safety priorities and compliance. This role will work closely with engineers and project teams to deliver project solutions that align with production objectives and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in technical decision-making and the resolution of design and engineering issues.
- Support in developing bids, proposals, scopes of work, scope changes, correspondence, cost estimates, schedules, material lists, design concepts, design drawings, and other project documentation.
- Develop, review, and update Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Support the development of equipment layouts and piping routing from conceptual design through detailed P&IDs.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of piping specifications and engineering standards.
- Prepare RFQs and support bid evaluations.
- Maintain organized project files and accurate technical documentation.
- Provide day-to-day technical support and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines to resolve project issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Construction, Industrial, Manufacturing etc.) and 3+ years of experience in field-based project work, including basic process design and layout, preferably within chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of basic piping, civil, and structural systems including piping specifications, materials, and routing practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Active TWIC Card or ability to acquire one.
- Familiarity with Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies.
