Position Summary
:Duties of this position include but are not limited to ensuring high quality work on all projects, communicating goals and directions effectively to the crew and paving superintendents. Pro-actively identify problem areas on jobs, overcome obstacles, and provide quality control. This position is also responsible for daily interactions with any subcontractors, inspectors, owners/GC’s, etc. The Superintendent must understand budgets, change orders, cost codes, purchase orders, and must have a full understanding of overall project design.
Functional Responsibilities:
- Serves as a field general that motivates and enforces a strong safety culture on the project
- Discusses and implements best practices that drive site safety daily
- Manages and maintains thorough knowledge of documents and schedule of activities
- Aggressively focuses on delivering the highest level of quality on all projects
- Monitors construction activities, including subcontractor performance for adherence to project documents and maintains Quality Control cost reports, change-order requests, monthly billing input, punch lists and any other standard operating procedure reports
- Proactively identifies potential problem areas early in the process and develops strategies to overcome obstacles
- Ensures paving superintendents and their crews have a clear understanding of their duties and responsibilities, provide accurate information and direction as well as the necessary tools, materials and equipment to perform their jobs
- Maintains daily paperwork, such as daily reports, field/inspection reports, purchase orders, contracts, billing reports, receipts, delivery tickets and correspondence
General Responsibilities:
- Develops, monitors, and enforces compliance with site-specific safety manual and enforces a clean and safe jobsite including documentation, and is OSHA compliant
- Notifies appropriate personnel of safety violations and takes corrective action where necessary
- Ensures that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel
- Actively participates in project appropriate pre-planning meetings with subcontractors to familiarize all subcontractors with the project schedules, construction methods, company procedures and policies and quality standards
- Provides quality control/assurance support on self-performance work and subcontractors work
- Reviews, expedites and monitors material deliveries in accordance with the project schedule. Reviews all design revisions for added cost and schedule impact.
- Maintains up-to-date progress information, including labor and material cost data
- Ensures accurate and updated documents are maintained on-site
- Participates with Project Manager in weekly and monthly reviews; Immediately reports issues and delays
- Preplans all schedule activities, manpower and material requirements for the project, and maintains communication with the project team
- Creates three-week, look-ahead schedules for all work that reflects the project schedule to make sure all required resources are available and communicate to the team
- Ensures punch list is completed per exit strategy requirements, and reports final numbers
- Controls and coordinates personnel orientation, safety training and program administration, labor relations and site security
- Communicates and works proactively to address all subcontractor issues
- Resolves project problems, disputes and open issues on a daily basis
- Develops and maintains relationships with owners, owner’s on-site rep, architect, engineer, subcontractors and vendors
- Identifies personality differences and work hard to communicate and achieve common goals, spends time daily developing and mentoring others

Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of what it means to be the Superintendent of several crews; oversee, direct, and mentor the teams
- Experience working on jobs ranging from $50K to $5M
- Must be able to multi-task
- Ability to be self-motivating, dependable, a team player, and perform duties with little supervision
- Strong computer skills required. Experience navigating tablets for time and equipment entry and modification, as well as key performance indicator reporting
- Must have valid Driver's License
- Bi-lingual is a plus but not required
