Job Title: Psychiatrist
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment within an integrated care setting. The Psychiatrist will assess patients, diagnose or rule out mental health disorders, develop treatment plans, prescribe psychotropic medications when appropriate, document clinical encounters, and conduct ongoing follow-up to monitor treatment progress. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with primary care providers, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, coordinated behavioral health services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including patient interviews, medical history reviews, behavioral observations, physical examinations, and review of relevant records.
  • Diagnose or rule out psychiatric disorders and determine appropriate treatment approaches.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, establish treatment goals, and prescribe psychotropic medications as clinically appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide psychotherapeutic interventions and medication management.
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and progress toward treatment goals.
  • Monitor medication effectiveness and potential side effects.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other healthcare providers as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in utilization reviews and remain available for emergency psychiatric consultations as required.
  • Support staff education regarding psychosocial and physiological conditions, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related behavioral health topics.
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical records, including symptoms, medications, treatment interventions, and progress notes.
  • Complete required communications, reports, and documentation for social services and other relevant agencies.
  • Participate in continuing medical education and professional development activities.
  • Stay current with developments in psychiatry through professional publications, training, networking, and professional organizations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of a psychiatry residency or combined family medicine/psychiatry residency through an ACGME-accredited program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Current, valid California medical license as an MD or DO.
  • Valid DEA registration.
  • Strong understanding of mental health advocacy and its role in patient care.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively with diverse populations and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with chemical dependency and substance abuse treatment.
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation and requirements.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 WPM.
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency.
Work Environment:
  • Combination of office and field-based work.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.
  • May occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • May occasionally travel or drive between local sites.
  • Work may take place in busy environments with varying levels of noise.
  • May be exposed to outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, noise, and odors.
  • May require bending, stooping, twisting, and prolonged sitting throughout the day.
