Job description

HR Administrative Intern

ACCESS, Inc. is dedicated to assisting women and children in our community that are experiencing homelessness. The agency encourages the development of self-esteem and promotes the attainment of self-sufficiency through its commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and holistic environment and through its programs of housing, education, advocacy and empowerment. We are seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join our team as an HR Administrative Intern. This is an unpaid internship designed to provide hands-on experience in human resources within the nonprofit sector. The intern will support day-to-day HR functions and gain exposure to the full employee lifecycle. This internship may qualify for academic credit we encourage applicants to check with their institution.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment activities including posting positions, screening applications, and coordinating interviews
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for staff
  • Draft internal communications, HR documents, and policy summaries
  • Assist with planning employee engagement and recognition initiatives
  • Support benefits and payroll administration tasks under supervision
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as scheduling, filing, and data entry.
  • Assist with preparing materials for staff meetings and training
  • Handle confidential information with a high degree of professionalism and discretion
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives across departments as needed
