The CEO will be responsible for driving financial performance, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth across a complex, multi-site organization. This role requires a leader with a strong business acumen who can develop and execute strategies that expand market presence, optimize profitability, and position the organization for long-term success.

Compensation

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide executive leadership with a primary focus on financial performance, profitability, and scalable growth.
  • Partner with the President and Board of Directors to develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive revenue growth, market expansion, and enterprise value.
  • Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis; ensure disciplined expense management and margin optimization.
  • Identify and execute growth opportunities, including new hospital contracts, service line expansion, geographic expansion, and strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee the successful development and launch of a new laboratory in a neighboring state, ensuring financial viability and return on investment.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and accountability measures across the organization to track financial and operational success.
  • Optimize revenue cycle performance, reimbursement strategies, and payer contracting to maximize collections and profitability.
  • Drive operational efficiencies across laboratory and administrative functions to improve throughput, reduce costs, and enhance scalability.
  • Evaluate and implement technology and data analytics solutions to support financial transparency, operational insight, and decision-making.
  • Lead high-level contract negotiations with hospitals, health systems, and payers with a focus on favorable financial outcomes.
  • Provide regular, data-driven financial and operational reports to the Board, including performance against budget and strategic goals.
  • Ensure appropriate organizational structure and talent alignment to support growth objectives and financial targets.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., CAP, CLIA) while balancing cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor industry trends, reimbursement changes, and competitive dynamics to proactively adjust strategy and maintain a strong market position.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MHA, or other relevant advanced degree strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of executive leadership experience with significant financial oversight in healthcare, preferably in pathology, laboratory services, or physician group management
  • Demonstrated success driving revenue growth, improving profitability, and scaling healthcare organizations
  • Strong background in financial management, including P&L responsibility, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue cycle optimization
  • Experience with multi-site operations, laboratory expansion, and new venture development strongly preferred
  • Proven success in contract negotiation, payer strategy, and hospital partnerships

Personal Characteristics

  • Strong financial acumen with a results-oriented mindset
  • Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable growth strategies
  • Confident decision-maker with accountability for financial outcomes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to influence physician stakeholders and build alignment around growth initiatives
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and driven to achieve measurable results

Computer Skills
