CLDE Paraeducator
POSITION SUMMARY: The CLDE Paraeducator provides instructional and linguistic support to Multilingual Learners (MLs) to help them access grade level content and increase English skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide small-group and individual instructional support to multilingual learners under the direction of the CLDE teacher at two assigned school sites.
- Introduce, review, and reinforce listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills aligned to English Language Development (ELD) standards within grade-level content.
- Support students in accessing core instruction (e.g., math, literacy, science, social studies) through scaffolds and targeted language supports.
- Monitor student progress during instructional activities and communicate observations regularly with the CLDE teacher(s) at both schools.
- Assist with preparation, organization, and collection of instructional materials, including visual aids, flashcards, games, and language supports across both sites.
- Correct and review student work as directed and assist with maintaining instructional records or data collection systems.
- Provide classroom supervision when needed and assist with transitions, playground duty, lunchroom monitoring, field trips, and walking students to classes as assigned at either site.
- Support collaboration efforts by assisting classroom teachers and specialists (e.g., art, technology, PE) in meeting multilingual student needs at both locations.
- May help translate and interpret for families during conferences and school communications, including written notes and phone calls, as appropriate.
- Help create and maintain a welcoming and culturally responsive learning environment across both school communities.
- Maintain flexibility to adjust scheduling between sites based on enrollment shifts and student needs, in collaboration with administration and the CLDE teacher(s).
- Perform additional school-based duties as assigned, including safety-related responsibilities (elementary/K8) as applicable at either site.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent. Bachelor of Arts (preferred). Bilingual/Spanish (highly preferred). English fluency will be determined through the interview process.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Colorado Driver's License. Current CPR and First Aid (or willing to obtain within first six months of employment).
LOCATION: Cherrelyn Elementary School and Clayton Elementary School.
SALARY: Starting hourly rate between $18.90 - $21.38 based upon education and prior related experience.
