Employee Relations Specialist

Job Summary:
Support all employee relations activities, including informal conflict resolution, conducting and guiding investigations, as well as guidance and support with the employee disciplinary process. Apply consistent standards and relevant college guidelines and policies in all employee relations activities. Perform thorough and confidential responsibilities relating to research, preparation, and addressing of employee relations issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze issues to determine the most appropriate and effective form of response, ranging from informal conflict resolution to employee disciplinary actions.
- Perform necessary investigation and guide any subsequent discipline, training, and/or alternative forms of resolution to best address those issues.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and supervisors on employee relations issues, workplace concerns, policies, and conflict resolution.
- Identify and suggest training needs and best practices.
- Investigate and identify employee violations of EEO law and/or of policy/procedure. Make recommendations for corrective action.
- Ensure consistent application of Collin policies and practices and applicable employment laws.
- Identify potential risks and partner with leaders to resolve employee relations issues and conflicts.
- Provide employees with guidance and support on workplace concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases and outcomes.
- Track trends and provide insights to leaders on recurring issues.
- Monitor and communicate trends in EEO, Title IX, and other state and federal regulations as they impact human resources.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and five (5) years of experience in Human Resources/Employee Relations or a closely related field or at least seven (7) years in Human Resources/Employee Relations in an institution of higher education or school system.
Preferred: Master's degree from an accredited institution. Experience working in higher education. Conflict resolution experience. Workday experience. PHR/SHRM certification preferred.

Hiring Minimum: $65,420.00
Hiring Maximum: $79,780.50
Compensation is determined based on experience.
