Human Relations Generalist
Focus: Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Benefits & Wellness
Job Purpose
The Human Relations Generalist supports core Human Relations functions with a primary focus on recruiting, onboarding, and general HR administrative support. This role helps achieve organizational staffing goals by assisting with sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and ensuring a positive and professional candidate experience. In addition, the HR Generalist provides support for benefits administration and wellness initiatives, helping ensure employees receive timely, accurate information and a welcoming introduction to the organization. This position contributes to maintaining efficient HR processes, strong employee service, and a positive workplace culture.
Reporting Relationship
- Reports directly to the Director of Human Relations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 12 years of experience in Human Resources, recruiting, or administrative support preferred (internships accepted)
- Basic understanding of HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, and benefits
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, customer-service mindset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to type at least 45 words per minute
- Willingness to learn HR systems, processes, and employment-related requirements
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities
Specific examples of position tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Recruitment and Hiring Support
- Assists with all stages of the recruitment process, including posting positions, reviewing resumes, and conducting preliminary screenings.
- Coordinates interviews, communicates with applicants, and supports hiring managers throughout the selection process.
- Maintains accurate information within the applicant tracking system and ensures timely updates.
- Represents the organization at job fairs, community events, and campus recruitment activities as assigned.
- Prepares offer documentation and assists with the transition from candidate selection to onboarding.
- Supports continuous improvement of recruitment workflows and candidate experience.
- Provide backup support for new hire orientation to ensure a smooth and welcoming onboarding experience.
Onboarding and New Hire Experience
- Coordinates onboarding activities such as scheduling orientation, preparing documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Ensures new hires complete required paperwork, clearances, and onboarding tasks.
- Assists in orientation facilitation and provides necessary information to new hires regarding policies and procedures.
- Supports onboarding of temporary workers and consultants as needed.
Benefits and Wellness Support
- Provides assistance with basic benefits questions and routes complex inquiries to HR leadership.
- Supports benefits enrollment processes and completes accurate data entry as directed. Helps prepare benefits documentation and participates in administrative tasks related to benefit programs.
- Assists with wellness initiatives by preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and supporting communication.
- Helps track employee participation and engagement in wellness activities.
HR Administrative and Operational Support
- Maintains employee personnel files and documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
- Prepares routine HR reports, spreadsheets, and tracking updates.
- Supports internal HR communications, such as newsletters, announcements, and department updates.
- Provides assistance with special projects, process improvements, and HR initiatives. Performs additional responsibilities or tasks assigned by the Director of Human Relations.
