Class 15-A minimum of two years college course work (60 credits) required with an emphasis in the field of special services early childhood elementary education or an Associates Degree in a program specifically in the area of teacher assistant preferred. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES :
The Special Education Teacher Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in the supervision of students and perform other duties as prescribed by the classroom teacher and / or principal.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED :
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
The ability to make accurate tabulations and computations; the ability to readily understand and carry out directions both oral and written; the ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in written form; the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; the ability to develop an effective working relationship with staff students parents and the community; creative thinking problem solving skills and the ability to reinforce information one on one and to small groups; must have an understanding of child development specifically in the area of special services and the ability to perform duties with an awareness of school department requirements and policies.
EDUCATION :
One year related experience preferred.
