Purchasing Coordinator
We are seeking a tech-savvy and energetic Purchasing Coordinator to join our team. This critical hybrid role involves managing procurement and digital inventory in the office, while also operating and organizing raw materials in the yard. The position requires close collaboration with the shipping department and various department managers.
Responsibilities
- Research and purchase all raw materials and specialized hardware.
- Use inventory management software and Excel to track stock levels and manage inventory, ensuring critical production components are always available.
- Collaborate with the shipping department to coordinate yard space and support the staging of finished products as needed.
- Ensure the safe offloading of incoming material for all deliveries and verify that the physical material matches the digital packing slip and purchase order.
- Store incoming products properly and deliver them to the correct department.
- Act as the central communication hub between the production floor, shipping team, and external vendors to maintain a smooth supply chain.
Essential Skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in negotiating with vendors via email/phone.
- Ability to provide clear instructions to the yard and shipping teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating large forklifts is a plus.
- Prior experience in a role involving both purchasing and shipping/receiving is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with materials used for culverts, vaults, and drainage structures is an advantage.
- Prepared to work through all weather conditions.
Work Environment
The role involves working in the office 50% of the time and in the yard 50% of the time. It requires being outdoors, getting dirty, and walking throughout the yard to take inventory and procure raw materials. The position involves working with Operations and Project Managers to ensure materials meet client orders and working in various weather conditions, including the heat of summer and cold of winter. The role may also require moving and lifting up to 50 lbs of materials and driving a forklift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
