A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN DETENTION SPECIALISTAs a Detention Specialist, you spend your day supervising and interacting with inmates and ensure their safety and health. You provide inmate transport to court, interview rooms, and other agencies. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. You complete administrative work, communicate and respond to queries. Perform and oversee the inventory of jail supplies and inmate property, evidence, and lost and found items. Assist in the implementation of safety procedures and provide janitorial services. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with great people skills in providing excellent customer service, and finds genuine enjoyment in what you do!QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN DETENTION SPECIALISTRequired Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency. Education Preference: Associate's DegreeRequired Work Experience: One (1) year of related experience. Experience Preference: Two (2) years of related experienceMust have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving recordMust be able to obtain NCIC/TLETS certification within six (6) months of employmentMust be a U.S. Citizen (certification requirement).Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.Are you someone who can handle multiple tasks?
