Job Summary:

VDC Quality Assurance Specialist

  • Must have REVIT and Navisworks – at least 4-5 years
  • A high manufacturing environment would be great
  • Need an electrical background, familiar with NEC code and specs.
  • They will be reviewing the VDC operators' modeling for accuracy per NEC code and project-specific specs. (Telecom, Fire Alarm, Security/Access Control)
  • He would like them to work on-site at Chandler or Ocotillo for 90 days to familiarize with site installations, but they could work remotely after 90 day.
  • Need in-state less than an hour away from site, preferably
  • Need at least 3 years of field experience

The VDC Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for trade-related modeling standards development and training for new and existing IES employees and model quality audits ensuring accuracy, completeness, and constructability.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review virtual design and construction models for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to IES, customer, and project-specific requirements.
  • Work closely with internal and external project managers, modelers, coordinators, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of virtual models with project goals and specifications.
  • Identify and document discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies in models and coordinate with relevant teams to resolve issues.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to maintain high standards of model accuracy, reliability, and constructability.
  • Maintain detailed records of model reviews, corrections, and approvals to track project progress and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to project teams on best practices for virtual design and construction processes.
  • Coordinate and communicate with VDC, design, and operations teams to resolve issues in the model, in the drawings, and in the field.
  • Assist VDC and Operations teams in reviewing and resolving issues during construction and updating the model and drawings accordingly.
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements in VDC technologies to continuously improve QA processes and optimize project outcomes.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach.
  • Must promote the company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentation(s).
  • Must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Must be able to travel within the company territory as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and on a team.
  • Flexible in handling assignments and attention to detail.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in IES specific trades, compliance management, and/or quality assurance.
  • 1-3 years of experience with Bluebeam Revu, or other PDF management software, required.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must meet company minimum driving standards.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards, specifically low-voltage, access control, video surveillance, audiovisual, and/or life safety systems.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and execute daily plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

VDC Key Performance Indicators:

  • Project Efficiency - Ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, minimizing waste and delays.
  • Collaboration Effectiveness - Fostering seamless communication and coordination among project stakeholders.
  • Data Accuracy - Guaranteeing the reliability and precision of information used in BIM models.
  • On-time Delivery - Meeting project deadlines to maintain client satisfaction and project progress.
  • Cost Savings - Maximizing financial efficiency by reducing unnecessary expenses throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Model Accuracy - Measure the percentage of models that meet established accuracy standards.
  • Error Resolution Time - Track the average time taken to identify and resolve model discrepancies.
  • Quality Control Effectiveness - Evaluate the effectiveness of quality control processes by monitoring rework rates and error recurrence.
  • Training Impact - Assess the impact of training initiatives on team members' ability to produce high-quality models.
