  • Experience with API testing, integration testing, data validation, or test automation is a plus.
  • Experience with public safety or law enforcement software is a plus; prior SmartCOP software experience is especially helpful.

Desired Job-Specific Competencies and Skills

  • Strong curiosity and persistence when investigating software behavior and reproducing reported issues.
  • Strong customer empathy and an understanding of the importance of reliable software in mission-critical public safety environments.
  • Ability to think from the perspective of end users, including officers, dispatchers, supervisors, records personnel, and support staff, and apply diagnostic and problem-solving skills to develop logical, documented recommendations with the appropriate teams.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into clear, actionable information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to balance quality, release timelines, customer impact, and team priorities.
  • Openness to learning and responsibly applying AI-assisted tools to improve testing efficiency, documentation quality, and team productivity.
