Job details:
Position: Hardin – Sterile Processing Tech (SPD Tech – Central Sterile Processing) SNSNSN
Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Shift: Evening – 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (5x8s, 40 hours/week)
Duration: 13 weeks
Job Duties:
• Receive used medical instruments, trays, and equipment from surgical and clinical areas for decontamination.
• Manually clean, disinfect, and operate mechanical washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilization equipment (autoclaves, Sterrad systems).
• Inspect, disassemble, and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization.
• Assemble, package, and label instrument sets and surgical trays according to hospital protocols.
• Load and monitor sterilization cycles, including chemical and biological indicators for quality assurance.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, track usage, and restock sterile supplies.
• Distribute sterile instruments and supplies to operating rooms and procedural areas.
• Collaborate with OR staff, nurses, and surgeons to ensure timely availability of sterile equipment.
• Follow strict infection control standards, regulatory compliance, and hospital safety guidelines.

• High School Diploma or GED required
• No prior experience required (entry-level eligible)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow strict safety protocols
• HSPA certification (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) OR CSPDT certification required (preferred/required depending on facility policy)
• Preferred experience in sterile processing or healthcare-related field
• Commitment to infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance standards
