Job description

Quality Control Supervisor

Somafina is a leading contract manufacturer of vitamins and dietary supplements. We are committed to producing high-quality products while maintaining a safe, efficient, and team-oriented work environment. The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of the Quality Control Technicians. Reviewing and approving deviations to ensure that product is manufacture in accordance with Federal and State regulation and within the company's policies and procedures. Supporting the company by working with other departments to resolve issues and concerns. This position reports to the Quality Manager

Essential responsibilities:

  • Ensuring product specifications are met and ensuring the companies policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.
  • Overseeing and managing the function of the Quality Control Technicians.
  • Reviewing and Approving Deviations.
  • Reviewing Batch Production Records for compliance to Federal and State regulation and the company's policies and procedures and entering information into company software for traceability.
  • Preforming internal inspections and Standard Operating Procedures reviews.
  • Working with other departments within the company to resolve issues and concerns as they arise.
  • Ensuring production of products meets company's stringent quality standards from start to finish.
  • Liaise with production and customer service departments to ensure that projects are initiated, executed, and completed according to federal regulations.
  • Insuring all employees follow cGMP requirements within the facility.
  • Providing coverage for Quality Control Technicians when there is an absence.
  • Work with QE to gather data for PQR's (Product Quality Reviews) for TGA products.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures.
  • Support of company, department, and/or safety procedures, programs and activities.
  • Develop a team-oriented process to attain department and company objectives.
  • Works with all managers within the manufacturing operations in matter concerning quality
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Education Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Competencies/Skill Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of GMPs and experience with nutraceuticals is a plus
  • Must demonstrate exceptional written and communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions / directions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to details.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Able to make decisions based on company guidelines. Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills are required.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and maintain effectiveness during times of major changes in responsibilities
  • Demonstrate integrity and willingness to take personal responsibility for performance.
  • Knowledge of Dietary Supplement GMPs preferred.
  • Experience in dietary supplement industry preferred.
  • Auditing experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience enforcing SOP and product specifications preferred.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office Suite programs excel experience required.
  • Strong mathematics skills required.
  • English proficiency required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; converse and listen; taste or smell.

Employee must exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

May be exposed to a dusty environment and/or considerable noise.
