Responsibilities

The salary range for this position is $21.50/hour - $37.50/hour. Final compensation will be determined by location, skills, experience, qualifications and the career level at which the position is filled.

The Quality Control (QC) Analyst is responsible for executing quality control testing related to mortgage origination activities. This role performs loan-level QC reviews of pre-fund and post-close origination loan files, documents results, identifies defects, and supports root-cause analysis under the direction of QC management. The QC Analyst contributes to regulatory, investor, and internal audit readiness through accurate testing, documentation, and timely follow-up.

This role is an individual contributor position with no direct reports and operates under the direction of QC management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform loan-level quality control testing for pre-fund and post-close origination reviews in accordance with investor, regulatory, and internal QC Requirements.
  • Accurately document QC testing results, findings, and supporting evidence within LoanHD or other designated QC systems.
  • Identify, classify, and clearly document QC defects, trends, and potential control gaps for management review.
  • Support root-cause analysis by gathering data and providing factual observations related to QC findings.
  • Assist with investor, insurer, warehouse lender, and regulatory QC reviews and audit requests related to mortgage origination.
  • Track and follow up on missing documentation or remediation items to meet established QC timelines.
  • Maintain organized and complete QC workpapers to support examiner and auditor review.

Key Competencies for Position

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined QC testing procedures.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manager multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical thinking and ability to identify inconsistencies or defects in loan documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional partners.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in mortgage quality control, underwriting, origination operations, audit or a related function.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage origination loan files and documentation.
  • Familiarity with investor or regulatory QC requirements (FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with mortgage QC platforms such as LoanHD preferred.
  • Ability to follow established QC testing methodologies and procedures.

Key Measures of Success/Key Deliverables:

  • Complete accurate and timely QC reviews of mortgage origination loans.
  • Maintains complete and well-documented QC review records within designated systems to support internal and external reviews.
  • Supports identification and documentation of defects and trends impacting loan quality.
  • Meets established timelines for QC reviews and follow-up activities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.
