DESCRIPTION OF ROLE :
Under the general supervision of the DNR Radio Specialist, this position provides specialized technical and comprehensive support, consultation, and training services for Department staff on P25 and analog conventional radio systems owned and operated by the DNR. The primary responsibility is to support, configure, maintain, and install radio systems and encompassing technologies.
This position assists in developing, recommending, and implementing standards for radio systems within multiple DNR divisions. It helps manage radio systems including repeaters, handheld radios, mobile radios, vehicle repeaters, base stations, and all ancillary technologies. Duties include monitoring / responding to help tickets, annual maintenance, programming, installing radios in vehicles and offices, and general radio fleet maintenance.
This position will work closely with DNR Radio Program staff including specialists in inventory, frequency, towers, and system administration. It will support radio needs for wildfire suppression, prescribed burning, public safety, and administrative operations. This is a statewide asset position that requires frequent travel, including overnight stays, and hands-on field work.
