Position Highlights
AZPM, the award-winning NPR / PBS affiliate in Tucson, Arizona, has an opening for a Full Time Radio / TV Announcer on its news, classical, and jazz radio stations KUAZ and KUAT-FM. The successful candidate will host syndicated and local news and information programming and / or music programming during an assigned shift, in addition to voice tracking, writing copy and assisting with recording and editing audio, with occasional other duties as assigned. If selected, you would join a dedicated team committed to bringing quality programming with integrity to Southern Arizona.
The successful candidate will be able to work flexible hours, including early morning and evening.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Radio Host / Live announcer during on-air shift on both NPR, KUAZ, and Classical KUAT.
- Operate broadcast control room equipment including microphones, sound mixers, audio recorders / reproducers, audio editing software, and monitors.
- Speak or read from scripted materials including station identification, traffic, weather, support credits and / or artist and title of performance on radio, television, streaming, podcast and other media.
- Cue and start recorded materials; maintain proper volume levels and monitor off-air transmissions to ascertain quality of sound reproduction.
- Exercise editorial judgment in presenting accurate, timely, and ethical content consistent with NPR and AZPM standards.
- Research, develop, write, and produce content for broadcast including promotional materials and scripted materials for both live and delayed broadcast.
- Introduce and announce various acquired programs and provide additional comments and information to the listening audience.
- May occasionally serve as a substitute host during another announcer's regularly scheduled air shift.
- Monitor EAS equipment and respond to announcements and events as prescribed in Emergency Alert System requirements.
- Review program log for assigned program periods and secure appropriate recordings and written materials for public informational announcements, promotional announcements, funding acknowledgments, and other programmatic material.
- Maintain awareness of and monitor transmitter performance parameters.
- Coordinate daily programming flow during assigned shift to ensure seamless transitions, audience engagement, and compliance with FCC and AZPM editorial standards.
- Record and edit content for audio broadcast and website.
- Research and prepare interview questions and conduct interviews.
- Participate in on-air membership campaigns by requesting listeners to send contributions to support the radio station.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to student workers and junior announcers as needed.
- Represent the station occasionally at community and public events and may serve as master of ceremonies at events.
- Substitute as anchor for radio and television newscasts on as-needed basis.
- Perform other duties as related to broadcast operations and audience engagement as assigned within the scope of the position.
