Description

General Summary: The Radiographer I primarily performs general Radiographic pediatric procedures, including complex, and research-based procedures delivering high-quality imaging while ensuring accuracy, safety, and workflow efficiency. This role supports patient care through timely and precise data entry, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to institutional and regulatory standards. They maintain up-to-date knowledge of sonographic technology, ensure proper equipment maintenance and disinfection, and uphold patient safety and quality control protocols. The role also demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills while acting as a resource for students, technologists, and other healthcare professionals. Flexibility, clinical reliability, and the ability to contribute within a fast-paced, team-based environment are essential for success in this position.Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform general Radiographic pediatric procedures, including routine, complex, and research-based imaging studies, with consistent adherence to quality and safety standards. Ensure timely submission of completed exams for physician interpretation while maintaining workflow efficiency and accuracy.

  • Accurately verify and input patient demographic, clinical, and technical information into the imaging system and medical record. Ensure all required technical data elements are completed and validated by the end of each shift to support high-quality care.

  • Support departmental operations and evolving business needs by providing coverage for rotating shifts, on-call duties, holidays, PTO, satellite locations, or operational gaps to ensure continuity of care and consistent service delivery.

  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, actively supporting patient care alongside nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and department efficiency.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of modality-specific quality control procedures and performs them as needed to maintain compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.

  • Maintains a working knowledge and adheres to institutional safety policy and The Joint Commission patient safety goals and guidelines.

  • Ensures proper disinfection and infection prevention practices, including adherence to high-level chemical disinfection protocols. Completes all required equipment maintenance and quality assurance checks to meet safety and regulatory standards.

  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification is required within one year of hire. Certification must be maintained throughout employment.

  • Current Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) licensure must be kept current and maintained.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Proficiency in imaging-specific software, hardware, electronic medical records (EMR), and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual proficiency is a plus. Capable of clear, effective interactions in person and over the phone, with accurate message documentation.

  • Ability to move to 20 lbs. regularly and assist with patient and equipment movement on a regular basis
