Radiologic Technologist - 18 Week Contract Position

Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, this position requires performing Radiologic procedures for the evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician. The candidate will utilize independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices while following department protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
  • Review clinical data on requisition and perform appropriate examinations, obtaining additional patient medical history as necessary.
  • Prepare procedure room and replenish stock, including linen and related supplies.
  • Analyze anatomical structure of patients and set up equipment to perform Radiologic procedures, manually controlling the equipment for proper diagnostic information.
  • Select and administer intravenous contrast media when necessary, monitoring patients for possible reactions.
  • Follow radiation protection principles, ensure adequate patient shielding, and select appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose.
  • Prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures while following infection control practices.
  • Complete necessary work sheets, logs, patient records, and documentation.
  • Assist in teaching and educating new hires and students as needed.
  • Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
  • Complete and ensure accuracy in study indexing within the Radiology Information System.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Must be registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible (registry must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, including Level I or II Trauma experience in the OR.

    • Schedule

    This position requires working from 6 : 30 AM to 3 : 00 PM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend. There may be potential flexibility with hours.
