[job_card.job_description]Technical training or HVAC certification- Current Journeyman HVAC license in MD, DC, or VA EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Type I, II, III). Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration, specifically with walk-in coolers and freezers. Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Familiarity with OSHA safety protocols and walk-in cooler design standards. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Experience with energy-efficient systems and environmentally friendly refrigerants. Knowledge of building codes and refrigeration regulations. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined, cold environments. Comfortable working on ladders, rooftops, and in walk-in units. Must wear appropriate PPE and follow safety protocols.
We are seeking a skilled Commercial Refrigeration Technician with proven experience in servicing, maintaining, and installing walk-in coolers and other commercial refrigeration systems. The candidate must possess strong technical knowledge, EPA Section 608 certification, and a commitment to safety and compliance with industry regulations.
Location : Washington DC corridor
Pay : $55 / hr- affiliated with the Local 602 union
Key Responsibilities :
- Installation & Setup
- Install commercial refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers, freezers, display cases, and chillers.
- Conduct site assessments and ensure proper placement, electrical connections, and insulation.
- Configure control systems and verify operational efficiency.
- Maintenance & Repair
- Perform routine maintenance : clean coils, replace filters, inspect electrical components, and check refrigerant levels.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues.
- Respond to emergency service calls and troubleshoot system failures.
- Compliance & Safety
- Adhere to OSHA , NSF / ANSI 7 , and EPA Section 608 standards.
- Handle refrigerants safely and legally, ensuring proper recovery, recycling, and disposal.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Customer Service & Communication
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding system performance, repairs, and energy efficiency.
- Provide recommendations for upgrades or preventive maintenance.
