Account Manager

SmartAsset is an online destination for consumer-focused financial information and advice, whose mission is helping people make smart financial decisions, reaching over an estimated 59 million people each month through our educational content and personalized calculators and tools. To extend our mission, we also operate SmartAsset Advisor Marketing Platform (AMP), which helps connect consumers with fiduciary financial advisors.

We are looking for a dynamic, strategic, and highly organized Account Manager to join our team. In this role, you will take ownership of a portfolio of Financial Advisor accounts, managing high-priority clients and fostering long-term relationships. You will play a key role in driving revenue growth, enhancing client satisfaction, and optimizing account performance. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as a trusted partner and primary contact for Financial Advisors.
  • Strategically engage and retain clients by understanding their needs.
  • Counsel Advisors on best practices to optimize SmartAsset campaigns.
  • Lead high-priority client escalation calls, including negotiations.

Revenue Growth & Upselling

  • Maximize revenue by selling additional products and services.
  • Manage and drive revenue in a growing book of business.
  • Utilize Tableau and other sales tools to uncover new business opportunities.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Represent the AM business in strategic meetings and provide feedback to the leadership team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with Account Executive and Advisor Support teams.
  • Work with sales operations, marketing, and product teams to share advisor insights.
  • Drive adoption of new tools and features across the team.
  • Operational Excellence

  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records for Advisor accounts.
  • Assist with Outreach Automation Tool (OAT) setup and maintenance.
  • Investigate billing discrepancies and intermediate finance conversations.
  • Oversee pre-activation processes, including compliance approvals and onboarding.
  • Action feedback from the Concierge team to improve engagement.
  • Skills / Experience You Have

  • 1+ years of experience in account management with a proven ability to manage a high volume of clients.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong phone presence to effectively engage with clients.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining lasting client relationships through multiple communication channels (email, phone, virtual meetings).
  • Proven consultative sales expertise, adept at identifying client needs and delivering tailored solutions.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment, with experience in team leadership or management.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Skills / Experience Preferred

  • Interest in the financial advisory industry with a strong willingness to learn. While prior experience is not required, the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with financial advisors is essential.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to communicate via phone calls and / or video conferences (mainly for concierge and sales roles)

  • Base Salary $70,000 and $95,000 OTE + RSUs + benefits.
  • Salary at SmartAsset is determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the contiguous United States.
