Orthotics / Prosthetist Resident

Summary

A Resident Prosthetist is responsible for integrating their : patient assessment formulation of a treatment plan implementation of the treatment plan follow-up and practice management skills for individuals in need of prosthetic management. They will complete their responsibilities in accordance with a physician prescription and under the supervision of a Clinical Preceptor / Mentor who has expertise in the field of Prosthetics. This role follows a structured program under the supervision of a mentor gradually increasing responsibilities.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Clinical Required : Provide patient care treatment and services within the scope of their license certification or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.
• Staff will provide patient care treatment and services within the scope of their license certification or registration and as required by law and regulation.
• Assessment of patients with impairment of human movement or musculoskeletal abnormalities that would impede their ability to participate in their social environment or other activities in order to determine a functional intervention.
• Formulation of a treatment plan with other health care providers as prescribed by the referring physician based upon a comprehensive assessment to design an intervention to alleviate limitations and enhance function.
• Implementation of the prosthetic treatment plan.
• Produces prosthetic devices as prescribed by the referring physician.
• Utilization of a follow-up treatment plan that ensures successful prosthetic outcomes.
• Compliance with practice management plans to develop and document policies and procedures to ensure patient protection which includes but is not limited to :

adherence to applicable local state and federal laws and regulations

Demonstrate excellent customer service and standards of behaviors as well as encourages coaches and monitors the same in team members. This individual should consistently promote teamwork and direct communication with co-workers and deal discretely and sensitively with confidential information.

Responsibilities in Quality Improvement

Contribute by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promote patient / family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service.
