Resident Engineer
The Resident Engineer serves as the construction project lead for complex CTDOT transportation, facilities, and / or railroad projects. The role is responsible for managing the CE&I team, administering construction contracts, and ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, applicable codes, and agency procedures.
Responsibilities
Project Management & Construction Oversight
- Lead construction activities from Notice to Proceed through final completion on CTDOT highway, bridge, facility, and / or railroad projects.
- Interpret and enforce contract plans, specifications, special provisions, CTDOT Form 819, Construction Manual, and applicable codes.
- Monitor contractor performance, CPM schedules, milestones, and critical path; identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate constructability issues and provide practical engineering solutions on one or more of the following :
- Highway / bridge work (earthwork, drainage, concrete, steel, utilities, MPT)
- Facilities / buildings (architectural, structural, MEP, renovations)
- Rail / transit projects (trackwork, platforms, facilities, utilities, yards)
